One last hurrah!

So my last hurrah on quilting goodies* came just before Christmas while I was visiting the in-laws in Greensboro NC. My MIL took me to Randy's Quilt Shop. I bought a few yards of really cute fabric for a bento box I'll get to later this year and one pattern. Normally I don't buy patterns because there are so many free ones out there or I can pretty much figure it out just by looking at it but I couldn't resist this modern take on the double wedding ring quilt designed by Virginia Robertson. I've never made a DWR so I wasn't sure at all how it was constructed. Glad I bought it.

I really want to make it for my sister. She's been bugging me forever to make her another quilt. I gave her the first quilt I ever made. It's uh... funky. Now she wants a nice one. ;^) Who could blame her? lol...

* New years resolution - buy no new fabric for one year! Work on making the fabric stash smaller.

So busy

I've been so busy! I can't believe the month is half over and I have hardly touched my sewing machine. I did get a chance to work a bit on the winding ways quilt but not much else. I'm trying to get set up and going on a Christmas table runner for my Mom. She's had some fabric stashed away in a drawer for a few years now with the intent of making something of it. (Don't we all?) So I took it from her with the promise that I'd have it done by Thanksgiving. I think I'll send her some block choices and let her pick one out. It's in her court now so I just have to wait and see which one she picks. ::grin::

Sorry there hasn't been much to share here lately. It's the end of summer and I've been spending a lot of time working in the garden, we also have company here for a few weeks. I did get one block done for a Bento Box quilt I'd love to make. I have a round robin border I need to be working on. I've got it all figured out in my head I just need to get it done. I think I owe a Birthday Block for that swap too. I really should check up on that.

Just a matter of time

I've been in love with both this collection of fabrics (I already have many of them) and the pattern Bento Box. I guess it was just a matter of time before someone else put them together. I love it. It's on my "to make" project list! I will have to wait until I finish up some of my other projects first. So hard to resist though!
